Document Information

When you upload an IEP document, we receive only the redacted text. Here's what happens:

• Your original PDF file never leaves your device
• Text is extracted and personal information is redacted in your browser
• Only the redacted text is transmitted to our servers
• Names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, and IDs are automatically removed

Usage Information

• How you interact with our service
• Pages visited and features used
• Device type and browser information

How We Use Your Information

• Provide our service: Analyze your redacted IEP and provide recommendations
• Improve our analysis: If you opt in, help train our AI to better understand IEP language
• District comparisons: If you opt in, contribute to anonymized statistics that help other families
• Account management: Manage your subscription and communicate service updates
• Security: Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only as follows:

Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our service or as required by law. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for research purposes.

Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for parents and guardians of children with IEPs. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All document uploads should be performed by the parent or guardian, and personal information is automatically redacted before transmission.

Educational Records (FERPA)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects student education records. As a parent, you have the right to share your child's educational records with third parties of your choosing.

ProIEP is not a "school official" under FERPA. We receive information directly from you (the parent) rather than from schools. Our automatic redaction helps protect your child's identity even if you choose to share documents with us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through our service. Your continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
